Due to the coronavirus, the campus was closed down. The effects of this is that we are now not able to work together in a single one room. There are also no face to face meeting and now everything is being done online. Luckily, we are prepared for such case as unlike most other teams we work mostly remote and rarely need a whole team work session. Therefore the transition to remote was fine. We have changed the structure of the team in response as well. One of which is the move to have daily scrum so everyone is up to date on what is happening as well as remote work sessions where we all work while in a call.
One of the major issues of working remote is working in not a productive environment. I would be working in my apartment and not in a place like a lab room. The issue comes of actually having productivity as things like procrastination gets in the way. Being in my own room removes any sense of motivation. Some solutions I have success so far is moving from one place to another so I don’t get too comfortable. I also avoid my roommates sometimes to not get distracted but also take breaks so I do not get burned out.
So far, I feel not much has changed pre-remote as we are still making progress to our work as usual.
